Reiki 21 day follow-up session

Master Usui meditated and fasten for 21 days at the mount Koriyama, before achieving a higher state of consciousness.

Interesting enough, the cycle of 21 days is also very important for our self-development as humans.
And experts also agree, that it takes up to 21 days to change human behaviours and life style habits.

Hence, there's a higher likelihood that in 21 days, people can adopt new habits and attitudes, leaving the old ones behind.

In what regards Reiki, after being initiated into this healing system, students feel an awakening of their senses which also takes from 21 days up to 3 month. This is often what we call the " 21 day period of self-cleansing".

What happens during the 21 day period of self-cleansing?

During this period several body, mind and soul changes will take place. Both senses and intuition are slowly awakening, and the person feels more invigorated, energised and tuned with God, universe and nature.
This dynamic process takes place in the body, mind and soul, being a direct result of the activation of the 7 major chakras.
When fully activated, these chakras will allow a deeper cleansing of the body energy centers.

After this 21 days cycle, people may tend to meditate more regularly, abandon negative habits, attitudes, seeking God and nature more regularly.
People may also feel the need to reflect daily upon life decisions, goals, people they interact with and situations.

Some people also initiate a new phase in their lives, quitting a non-stimulating job, an abusive relationship, an addition (smoking, watching too much TV, drinking, nail biting, lying, etc), solving overeating disorders, stressful work related situations, procrastination, aggression, etc.

21 day pause between Reiki Levels

After a Reiki course, its wise and convenient to make a pause from 21 days up to 3 month between levels. This will give time for the body to better assimilate this energy, integrate changes and deepened the cleansing process occurring since Reiki level I.

Welcoming changes

All changes occurring within these 21 day period are very much welcomed, and shouldn't be feared, perceived as something wrong, negative or unhealthy.

Although the 21 day period of self-cleansing may be overwhelming for some people (bringing to the surface suppressed aggression, frustration, old pain, suffering, depression, a deep crisis or an cute physical pain), this is not necessarily bad or negative.
This period is often perceived by healers, as a way the body found to get rid of toxins, old negative mind patterns, behaviours and habits by initiating a deeper self-cleansing process.

Different response times for different people

Not everybody feels or reacts the same way to Reiki courses or treatments. Some people may feel strong physical reactions (crying outbursts, uncontrolled laugher, relief etc),  whilst others feel subtle and pleasant spiritual changes taking place.

Either way, a process of deep change is taking place and people need to understand that this will happen independently from one's intervention or will.
Thus, there's no reason to be afraid, hold too high expectations about a course/treatment and their effects or feel too anxious about Reiki.

People should also analyse what is happening to them with an open mind, gratitude and not expecting unrealistic miracles to take place.
