Aromatherapy

What is Aromatherapy?

Aromatherapy is an ancient practice that makes use of pure, essential and carrier oils for therapeutically and beauty purposes. And this practice not only regards the use of oils, but also of their unique scents.

Chemicals and aromatherapy

Although natural aromas, scents and fragrances have wonderful therapeutic properties, their chemicals are undoubtedly far more important for professional aromatherapists.

And most professional aromatherapists believe, that natural chemicals and aromas act directly upon our emotions and nervous central system, clearing in the process both mind, body and soul.

Therefore, modern aromatherapy values and respects equally the inner healing transformative power of essential oils, alongside with their unique chemicals properties, characteristics, nutrients and health benefits.

How does Aromatherapy works in the human body

When nasally inhaled, aromas enter the limbic system of the brain via the nasal cavities. And because the sense of smell is a basic human instinct, each oil molecule leads to particular brain response and sensations.
The brain releases then in the process important chemicals, that communicate with the nervous system of the person, stimulating or relaxing it.

When oil molecules are applied directly in the skin,  they also act directly on the epidermis and mucosa.
These molecules enter easily the outer layer of the skin into the circulatory system (or bloodstream), supplying the body with important nutrients, stimulating the central nervous system cells and going to areas of the body where they are most needed.

After a few hours (from 3-6 in a healthy body, and about 15 in an unhealthy), the oil is expelled from the body through excretions (unlike chemical drugs that remain in the body for a long period of time).
The body will expel unnecessary nutrients, keeping only those that are important and beneficial to one's heath.
