As far as the catholic religion regards, they are perceived as divine messengers on earth and a gift from God to mankind.

How do we know that angels exist?

We know that angels exist, mainly through our religious tradition, holy scriptures and texts. There are also records of people that encountered and that work directly with angels.

However independently from human religious beliefs, many ancient civilizations reported cases of apparitions of light beings, angelic encounters and beings descending from heaven to earth.
Even primitive men (aboriginals and ancient tribes) reported, pictured or described these visits or phenomena.

Thus, this is not a modern belief or an idea simply inherited from the Catholic or Judaic religion, but rather an ancient phenomena, largely known and accepted worldwide by many religions, doctrines, civilizations and cultures.
And independently from our religious tradition, many holistic healers also believe that these light beings exist, and are here to guide and help humans.

What does the name Angel means?

The name "Angel" origins from the Greek word for messenger "Aggelos or Angelos", and it means bodiless, ageless, spiritual beings with no specific gender.

Do Angels have human names?

According to some experts, angels don't have real names. But some religions named them in order to establish contact easier or to evoke their presence on earth.

And humans often need to name phenomenon, beings and entities, in order to better understand their role in our lives or to call for their help.

Additionally, fear or lack of knowledge may also lead humans to name these light beings of angels, identifying them with certain values, virtues, emotions or physical attributes.

Are angels feminine or masculine beings?

According to angelogists, angels are neither feminine or masculine, being genderless.

Nevertheless, often they are referred as having feminine or masculine energy emanating from within.

How do angels look like?

In accordance with the Bible, angels are present on earth since the dawn of the days, having light bodies and wings.

These beings have also been portrayed throughout centuries by many famous artists, referred in literature, music and mentioned by many religious texts.
And both in the Middle Ages and Renaissance, many artists painted heavenly or religious images of angels, with gracious faces, wings, halos and light around their bodies.
They were also often portrayed interacting with famous biblical personalities,  influencing directly events on earth.

Independently from our western religious tradition (of having angels being depicted with wings and a certain appearance), they are perceived by most angelogists as nameless,  ageless, genderless beings of light and quite difficult to describe.

Either way, experts agree that angels move very fast and are often surrounded by warm energy, colours and great balls of golden light.

Do angels have feathered wings?

According to the experts they don't have feathered wings.
The idea of portraying angels with white feathered wings, serves only to mention their divine nature, lightness and fast motion.

And through our human perception and symbolisms, we perceive them easier and better this way (as beings of light who can fly, as little winged babies, as strong and powerful men or as graceful and elegant women).
Yet, most angelogists believe, that angels do not possess wings or feathers at all, but energy emanating from within that resembles white wings.

Thus it seems that there's a slight misunderstanding regarding this issue among humans, brought to us by pictorial sacral images throughout the centuries.
Some religious texts even mention angels, as beings possessing four to six wings each, four faces and not easy to describe according to our parameters.

Therefore, experts agree that people should try to look beyond their appearance, making an effort to perceive angels differently -- as pure light beings.

Why are angels so special?

Because angels are believed to have been given great wisdom, power, love and freedom by God.

For angelology, they are essentially beings of light in constant state of grace, receiving God's commands with bliss. And these characteristics make them already very special, being difficult to grasp or even to describe.

Additionally, angelogists believe that God is so powerful, perfect and glorious that cannot be approached directly by humans, constantly dwelling between "light and shadow", between "good and evil". Reason why God created angels, "light beings" that make the bridge between earth and heaven, between men and God.

Hence, angels are very special for mankind because they are believed to be in the presence of God, having both unique characteristics and roles in our lives, planet and universe.

Are angels powerful beings?

According to the experts they are powerful beings.
And as heavenly light beings, angels have no limitations in terms of time and space, having endless powers.

Some experts also believe, that God gave them these powers and abilities, in order to allow them to accomplish his will and help humans on earth.
And because they are in direct contact with God' supreme light, they also possess much of God's supreme energy, love, wisdom, beauty, power and strength.

Since when do angels exist?

Most people agree, that angels exist before mankind and creation, being ageless and timeless beings.
And according to religious texts, they helped God to create our planet, paradise (Garden of Eden), Adam and Eve. So, we could say that they are around since the beginning of human creation.

Do all religions believe in angels?

Yes. People of all faiths and religions believe in angels. And one doesn't need to be Judaeo, Muslim or Catholic to know about angels or believe in their divine presence.
Although having different names in different religions, angels are mainly known to us all as "messengers of heavenly announcements" and of miraculous happenings on earth.

Curious enough, there are several ancient Sumerian, Egyptian, Persian and Indian writings mentioning the visit of winged messengers of the "Gods" to earth.
These visits were also depicted or engraved in stones, paintings in caves, pottery and art. So, this leads us to believe, that ancient religions also believed in angels and light beings.

Where are the angels at this moment?

According to angelogists, they can be just next to you! And because they don't know time and space as we do, they can be in different places simultaneously, visiting different people in different countries, centuries and realms.
Additionally, experts believe that they can easily change their appearance, reaching people in different forms, contexts and with different faces.

Finally, angels seem to know no space and time boundaries, having the ability to be in different places at the same time (so, they can very well be close to God and in the heaven realms, or simply visiting people on earth).

Interesting enough, some experts defend that angels called " God's ministers" never leave God's side or interact with humans.
Other angels called "angels of lower hierarchy" or earthly angels, have the ability to interact with humans, being very much present in our daily lives and planet.

Do people report encounters with angels?

Yes. Throughout human history, many people have reported encounters with angels. This is also mentioned in several famous religious scriptures and holy texts.

Currently we live in a society of sceptical and pragmatic people, and many humans question these experiences and the existence of God.
Nevertheless, some people with no religious backgrounds or strong spiritual beliefs, report amazing encounters, contacts or visions of angels.

Likewise, many people report being rescued or helped in a dangerous life threatening situation by a "stranger", an angel or a deceased loved one.
Others report having received miraculous help from a "light being" during a deadly tornado, a major storm, a house on fire or from a car accident -- coming out of it completely unharmed. Others were pulled back from a cliff by a stranger not knowing who, how or why.
And cases of a person appearing safe on a beach, while minutes ago he/she was surely drowning, are not unusual reports.

Finally, all these reports have a few things in common:

1-The "rescuer" came from no where to help the person in need;
2-The "rescuer" vanished in the air as quickly as it appeared, leaving no trace of his/her presence;
3-The "rescuer" helped a person in need in a location or place impossible to reach, or in a serious life threatening situation or moment;
4-The "rescuer" was surrounded with strong light and beautiful bright colours, speaking verbally or mentally to the person in need;
5-The "rescuer" had an unusual strength to remove heavy objects, vehicles or parts of a building etc;
6-The "rescuer" was wearing past-century clothes, long garments of wings;
7-etc.

Are there many different types of angels?

According to angelogists, there are many different types of angels as there are many different types of human beings. Each one is specialised in a particular area, and some relate more to certain emotions and mind states than others. Some can be called for courage, others for love, for peace or for health.
Some give inspiration to certain arts or jobs and others related to peoples life mission. Some aid teachers, others doctors.
They are different and all interested in helping humans to do better and live an harmonious life.

Angels are teachers?

All angels seem to be teachers, being in charge of different areas of human learning. And when a person feels attracted to ex: writing, it also attracts angels in charge of this area. These angels are keen to help the person to broaden his/her horizons and writing abilities, leading the person to bookstores, new courses, lectures, libraries, to meet like minded people etc.
So, experts say that its not uncommon to find among us e.g. angels of music, of arts, of communication, of love, of health, of gardening, of science etc.

Are all angels good?

According to the Bible some angels don't work for the good, being often called "fallen angels".
These beings once much loved by God, disobeyed or acted against His will, being destroyed or expelled from heaven.
And many people still account them for many world disaster, wars, conflicts and natural catastrophes.
