What is fear?
Fear can be described as a basic human emotion, feeling of social and personal inadequacy, based in a strong rooted notion of inner and outer limitations.
Fear can also be described, as a form of human misperception, delusion or obsessive thought.
Fear is a mind bio-product
Quite often fear can be shaped in the mind of an overly imaginative or sensitive person, conducting him/her to feel deep states of anxiety, guilt, insecurity, anger, inability to integrate socially, inability to cope with other people, etc.
Family or social induced
As a negative human feeling or energy form, fear can either be induced by the person or by others (family, friends, spouses, colleagues, etc). Fear can also be projected to other people or received.
The impact of fear in people's lives
Depending on the person experiencing it, fear can be either "imagined" or gain life and project itself in real actions.
Either way, fear can also generate addition, victimization, lack of self-worth, unrealistic notions of perfection and reality, sense of danger, inner judgments, negativity etc. And when people don't fully understand what fear is, they often lose themselves in this feeling, becoming many times the object of their own fear. Thus, its important to alert people for these issues, helping and guiding them to break lose of fear, inner conflicts, self-imposed misery and negativity.
But why does fear controls people's lives?
Because some people don't realise, that most of the times they are conditioned to feel fear. This can be a result of one's genetic heritage, education, socialization, emotions etc. And independently from it's roots, 95% of the time fear is unfounded and lacking human logics. Many times people feel apprehensive toward specific life situations, events, people or places because they had a negative life experience. And because sometimes people don't know how to act differently or better, they prefer to assimilate a feeling that is already known to them: fear.
Yet, many times people fear the unknown, their future and all its uncertainties. So, fear is not always founded on experiences already lived, but in uncertainties. Thus, its not unusual to see people fearing their own self-fulfilling prophecies, intimate apprehensions, self-anticipations, anxiety, sense of rejection etc.
Can people let go of fear?
Yes. We can all learn how to cope with changes, obstacles and even life dangerous situations. Humans beings have a tremendous capacity to learn and teach new things to each others and to themselves.
And fear after being well understood, mastered and removed, can lead people to fulfilled and beautiful existences. Thus, fear is possible to be fought and even to be erased from one's life, heart, mind and soul.
Finally, getting rid of fear is a personal challenge, allowing people to learn a great deal about life, themselves, others, God and spirituality.
How far can fear control and affect people's lives?
Fear if not well controlled can lead people to extremes. Many times it can even generate serious physical and mental diseases e.g. fear of going out, depression, phobias, paranoia etc. And in other cases, fear can eventually lead people to express dangerous behaviours, putting themselves or others in life threatening situations.
And there are many cases still, where fear induces people to distrust, massive panic attacks and even terror.
Hence, fear if misinterpreted or not properly faced, may generate serious diseases and psychosis in many people (varying only in terms of causes, intensity, realism, effects etc). Fear can be both individual or social founded. And its not uncommon to hear stories of individual and mass hysteria e.g. after a terrorist attack, after a natural disaster, in a war zone, etc.
Society and the media induces people to fear
 We live in a fear based society. Human beings react fast to visual stimulations, and unfortunately the media puts a great deal of effort, in bringing negativity and fear into people's lives. The media are ruthless and caring mostly about their audiences, having no parameters in with regards preserving peoples minds from violence, aggression or unpleasant situations. And besides inducing people to fear and appealing to fear, aggression and hate, they also feed it to people on a daily basis e.g. news, real-life shows, horror movies, violent programs etc.Our society is undermined by fear and by the media. The fact that we also live in a fast paced world, may lead some people to blindly believe in everything the media feed us. Previously our society was shaped by religion and political power, now its shaped by the interests of the media groups.
How can a person let go of fear?
First, the person needs to acknowledge the existence of this feeling or problem. And this is done by:1- Realising it's nature; 2- Getting to know one's fears; 3- Understanding their type, origin, causes and effects; 4- Acknowledging the need to change and map out fears from one's life; 5- Learning techniques of self-empowerment, meditation, affirmations and prayer;6- etc.
Feeling ONE with God
In order to overcome feelings of fear, its important to understand our role and mission in life, connection with nature, planet, universe and God.
Because fear is often lack of oneness and unity with all these elements, people should attempt to reconnect in order to release fear.
Fear is also separation from our true selves and from God. And when separation is no longer there, fear tends to dissipate giving room to pure joy, happiness, health, peace, confidence, love and harmony.
Simple exercises to get rid of fear
After acknowledging its existence, its important to tap into their nature and see what type of fears haunts your mind.
1- Write down all your fears in a piece of paper; 2- Ask yourself why you need to change your fears and let them go? 3- Ask yourself how you would describe your character in a positive and negative way? 4- Ask yourself if there's anyone or anything inducing you to fear? 5- Ask yourself how long do you live with fear? 6- Do you think you need to continue living with fear, or you do want to change this mind-pattern? 7- Is it important for you to overcome fear or not? 8- Do you believe you don't have any chances, possibilities or opportunities in life to change for the better? 9- Does fear drives you away from your true dreams and life mission? 10- Does fear steals your health, happiness, relationships, jobs and energy? 11- Are your fears based in unrealistic life expectations?
Fear induces to dis-ease and unhappiness
Many times fear can induce people to states of disease and unhappiness. Some people due to their fears live a poor and limited existence, hiding behind depressions, addictions, unhealthy life styles of unhealthy relationships.
Fears are expressed
Fears can be expressed in a multitude of ways e.g. verbally, mentally, energetically, by sounds, colours, scents, movements etc. And fears can also be perceived through our own senses and expressed physically through our bodily communication. Some people can easily express their fears, others prefer to suppress them in their minds, using fears as defence mechanisms.
Yet, fears can also generate anger, violence and aggression towards the person or others. So, face your fears with bravery and the aid of positive affirmations, music, yoga, meditation or pray. Shed light and positivism into your life!
