Breaking the cycles of reincarnation
Buddhists believe, that its possible to break down the cycle of multiple reincarnations and the "wheel of karma". This process is not easy or simple to achieve, and needs to be accomplished in several life times, through self-development, spiritual enlightenment and true unity with God.
For Buddhists, life is nothing more than a conscious or unconscious process of self-development and self-discovery, often revealing peoples true nature, soul rhythm and level of unity with God.And the "wheel of karma" also teaches and allows humans to constantly reinvent themselves through a myriad of lives and ways, putting aside feelings of disharmony, entrapment and self-inflicted misery.
Reincarnation
Buddhists believe in clear universal laws and order, karmas (karmic baggage's) and reincarnation. This last process also called "soul transmigration", regards physical death and rebirth (or reincarnation in a new body). And for many people this process can happen both in a human or animal body.
These ideas and concepts, are very much rooted in eastern philosophical doctrines, differing a great deal from western religions and notions about life and death. Interesting enough, religions like Catholicism, Judaism and Islamism do not believe in reincarnation or karmas at all, but rather on going to heaven after death and being at the final judgment day. Its also believed, that during the creation of the old and new testament issues related to reincarnation were removed from the holy books, in order to make people fear and believe in the power of sins. Reincarnation was once mentioned and believed, but after the revision of the holy books it became a source of hope for those who didn't feared human power.
Therefore, karma for Buddhism is nothing more than a cord with infinite "knots", well described by the ancient Tibetan and Buddhist symbol of the "Shirivasta or Endless Knot" (see image below). The Shirivasta or Endless Knot
The Endless Knot represents ideas like continuity, interconnection and interdependence of life;
This is also the symbol of eternity, endless existence, true spiritual development and unity with God;
The Endless knot also represents constant change, the flowing of time and motion of life;
This symbol also represents union of all beings, harmony, infinite life without beginning or end;
The Endless Knot is the symbol of Buddha, representing his great compassion, infinite wisdom and enlightenment (this is one of the 8 symbols of Buddha);
Although referring to a pool of forces and energies, this is not a negative symbol, but rather a symbol of fortune, long life, happiness and unity with God.
| Universal law and order
Situations and events taking place in our lives, are singly based in the notion of universal law and order. And they both exist long before mankind, being God's way of bringing harmony, constancy, eternity, justice, love and unity to the universe. Order as opposed to chaos and disharmony, can be perceived as God's ruling principles, or way of giving some architecture to the universe.
There are seven major laws ruling the universe:Law of the spirit, eternity and constancy;Law of the karma;Law of analogy and correspondence;Law of attraction;Law of harmony and balance;Law of vibration;Law of polarity.
Finally the universe has its own cosmic rhythm and balance. Men are only a small part of it, being completely interdependent and interconnected to the universe wise and intricate working. © copyright Sharehealing 2005 |
