Element: Water. Sense: Taste. Represented by a: Pyramid. Location: Two fingers above the navel area and low abdomen. Importance of this chakra: allows us to balance our emotions.
Gemstones and crystals: Agate, Quartz, Garnet, Tiger's eye, Orange Tourmaline, Calcite, Carnelian, Moonstone, Rutilated quartz.
Flower Essences: Lady's Slipper, Indian Paintbrush, Hibiscus. Essential oils: Neroli, Orange blossom, Jasmine.
Fundamental Principles: Reproduction, abundance, creativity, passion, sexuality, personal expression, emotional stability and harmony.
Body parts associated: Kidneys, pelvic girdle, lower intestine, bladder, bowel, all body liquids ( eg. blood, lymph, gastric juice, sperm and regulation of the female cycle), sexual organs.
Glands: Prostate, ovaries, testicles, gonads.
Proper functioning of this chakra:
The Sacral Chakra is located above the genital region, dominating the human need to give impulse to new life.
Its directly connected with the sacrum, opening up to the front of the body, ruling the functioning of the male and female reproductive organs.
This chakra also influences our sexual and emotional relationship with the opposite sex. The malfunctioning of the sacral chakra may lead to: Rejection of one's sexuality; Rejection of all sorts of body/physical contact with other human beings; Constant feelings of rejection; Inhibition to express one's sexual needs (hiding often in fantasies or suppressed desires); Sexual misdirection; Over active sexuality (this may lead to perceiving sex as an addiction, a tool to achieve certain life goals or as a drug); Difficulties to relate socially to other people; Difficulties to build positive, loving and long-lasting intimate relationships.
The malfunction of this chakra, often occurs during puberty years when it's originated. This time represents to all human beings the awakening and discovering of sexuality and desire.
And many times, these energies run uncontrolled and freely in the body, generating strong physical, mental and emotional reactions.
These are often acknowledged and repressed by society, parents, religion and educational systems.
So, the need to embrace or reject one's sexuality, begins in the early infancy period and extends to puberty.
Hence, in extreme cases of malfunctioning of this chakra, the person has lack of sexual curiosity and creativity, having difficulties of expression. He/she will also avoid any bodily contact and touch, rejecting signs of affection and tenderness.
Later on in life, this blockage may cause serious physical and physiological problems to the person. This may lead to an increase in his/her insecurity and uncertainty levels, specially in what regards to sexuality and sexual orientation.
Likewise, this malfunctioning can also lead people to excessive fantasizing about love, never engaging in satisfactory human or sexual relationships. In case of inadequate functioning of the Sacral Chakra, teenagers may show tendency to commit suicide.
