Gland: Thyroid (regulates the transformation of food in our metabolism, balancing calcium and iodine levels in our body tissues and blood). Proper functioning of this chakra:
The throat chakra is located in the neck and the larynx region, beginning at the cervical vertebra and opening up towards the front of the body. This chakra regulates the capacity to express one's true thoughts, feelings and emotions (verbally this is achieved by words and the expression of true thoughts).
Therefore, the throat chakra or "communication center", is known to "healers" as making the link between peoples thoughts and their inner emotions. In this sense, communication, involves all sorts of inner and outer human expressions e.g. art, gestures, music, dancing, acting, body language, singing, etc. When well open and balanced, this chakra also allows people to develop their perceptions, ideas and desires. And its also thanks to this chakra, that all human knowledge finds its way out into the world.
This chakra is also responsible for the release and expression of human basic emotions e.g. crying, laugher, anger, etc.
Therefore, a fully development throat chakra often teaches people how to make a distinction between mental vs. emotional and ethereal vs. physical emotions. In this perspective, true emotions and divine thoughts are never dominated or imprisoned by lower feelings and physical sensations. And this concept is easily perceived by people with a balanced throat chakra. Finally, when the throat chakra is functioning well, inspiration comes as something natural. This often results in the creating of beautiful pieces of art, melodious music, graceful dance, etc. Therefore, the throat chakra regulates both our communication and the functioning of our ears, capacity to listen to others, to listen to the voice of the divine and our inner thoughts. The malfunctioning of the throat chakra may lead to:Ear and speaking problems, throat blockages, back pain, wrong postures, upper lung breathing problems, bronchitis, laryngitis etc. Incapacity to say NO to others (this person easily experiences life situations with much frustration and anger); An overly passive nature, incapable of reacting to unfair life situations or to speak out one's truth (falling easily in the hands of manipulative and controlling people; Inability to express deep feelings or to reflect upon emotions and love; Creation of an overly intellectual being, lonely, cold and constantly afraid of communication; Denying deep emotional needs; Fearing of being judged, misunderstood or mislead (not allowing much room for self-development); Feeling guilty; Self-rejection (which often results from not expressing properly deep emotions and one's needs); Speaking difficulties and blockages (a malfunctioning throat chakra can easily be "heard", leading people to sudden variations in their tone of voice, from weak to strong and back to weak. In worse case scenarios, the person may turn to stuttering when feeling pressured to express deep emotions or ideas); Communication problems e.g. language and tone of voice may be overly noisy, cold, offensive, aggressive, indifferent or unfriendly; A withdraw nature, hidden away in an inner world, too quiet, too shy, too afraid of judgments and manipulation, to afraid of control and social pressures (this nature, can lead to problems when discussing trivial things with other people, not being able to discuss either trivialities or deep feelings); A overly reserved attitude, not revealing if there's a brilliant writer, poet or artist hiding in the person (the individual may even have a rich an amazing inner world, but tends to hide it from others, keeping it unseen); When trying to express inner emotions, the person may get a lump in the throat area or pain in the upper back or neck; etc.
In order to solve any problems related to this chakra, the person needs to regain self-confidence and to learn how to trust in his/her own opinions, jugments and intuition.
Fear is an enemy of true emotions, and can make a person hide away from life, creating walls of protection from prejudices, judgements and criticism. The only way out from this self-imposed situation, is to be more expressive, expansive, honest, to hear and make others hear us! |
