Importance of this chakra: allows humans to be in direct contact with the divine and with their spirituality. During a Reiki treatment, the Universal energy is channelled through this chakra to the remaining 6 chakras.

Proper functioning of this chakra:
The crown chakra is located in the center of the head, opening upward to the cosmic energy and universe.
This chakra in religious art, is often portrayed as a golden ring or halo on top of someone's head.
Many saints and important religious figures have this halo in their heads. This symbolically represents a higher consciousness state, connection to the divine, to "God" or real understanding of one's life purpose.
Likewise, the colours of this chakra is violet and white. These colours are often used for meditation, being frequently related to religious devotion and enlightenment. Furthermore, this chakra is also viewed as the "highest chakra in the human body", uniting all other chakras. And when people receive energy into the body, this often comes via the crown chakra, spreading to the lower chakras. The crown chakra also creates unity between men, the divine and the universe, allowing people to better understand the purpose of their earthly existences.
The knowledge accumulated by the crown chakra (in this and other lives) and perceived by the third eye, leads to amazing human developments. With this one's intuition gets sharper, and people can perceive reality in a multidimensional way.
All knowledge provided to the lower chakras comes through opening ourselves to the crown chakra and to God, by accepting "His" higher and divine energy.
Hence, when fully open, the head chakra also allows the other chakras to work in perfection, by removing their obstacles and disharmony. The 7 major chakras will then be fully aligned, working for one single purpose: human perfection.
Interesting enough, when completely awakened and open, this chakra also begins to irradiate divine energy.
The Reiki channel of healing will then no longer receive universal energy, but rather irradiate this energy to all other beings.
Thus, the crown chakra is a very special energy center in the human body, and when it awakens brings pure enlightenment, peace, love and higher meditative states to people.
The crown chakra also allows the full development of one's consciousness, bringing sense of oneness with the God.
Life and reality cease to be unclear and affected by human moods or lower desires. Illusion dissipates, being replaced by pure light, joy, bliss, love and knowledge.
Curiously, many people also believe that humans are open and receptive to the influence and energies of the crown chakra every seven years, or between the ages of: 7, 14, 21, 28, 35, 42, 49, 56, 63, 70, 77, 84 etc. The malfunctioning of the head chakra may lead to: Severe mental problems and diseases; Neuroses, headaches, migraines, phobias and obsessions; Hysteria and fear; Difficulties of thinking, reasoning and rationalising things; Difficulties to analyse situations with objectivity and clarity; Difficulties to accept the idea of God, Oneness, consciousness, enlightenment, self-awareness and self-development; Difficulties to meditate and find inner peace; Feelings of insecurity and lack of self-esteem, specially in what regards one's intelligence and true brain potential; etc.
The head chakra is the most important chakra of all. When not well open or blocked, it doesn't bring full knowledge, abundance and enlightenment to people. As a result, fear always prevails in the person's life, resonating to the lower chakras, unbalancing and blocking them altogether.
Hence, blockages in this important chakra will not be easily removed by a "healer", and dis-ease will prevail (basically, if not completely open, this chakra will bring serious disharmony to one's existence and irreversible problems).
Therefore, it's important to look inside of ourselves more often, searching for profound life messages. This search needs to be carried by putting fear aside, rejection, insecurity and uncertainty.
People should try to open their hearts to creation and to universal knowledge, not blocking their emotions, feelings and thoughts.
Looking deep inside of one's soul and avoiding superficiality, leads people to the path of life, enlightment and oneness with God. And this is the most important achievement one can accomplish in life.
