Distance healingWhat is healing? The concept of healing is subjective, and can vary enormously from person to person, culture to culture and from religion to religion.
According to scientific concepts, the word "healing" means ultimately, "the removal of illness symptoms by finding a cure". What makes a concept scientific? Some say, that human validation is what makes a concept scientific and widely acceptable.
But what is validation after all?
By validation, people mean that concepts have to be "logic" to men, needing to make sense, working consistently towards a certain end or a result. And with validation, people also tend to reduce healing to human logics, to data collection and experimentation, merely seeking to confirm secular knowledge.
Although human knowledge has undergone a great deal of change throughout the centuries, it still cannot answer all our existential questions. There is still a great deal of knowledge in the world hardly untapped, grasped or even understood. Curiously enough, mankind seeks to develop spatial travelling, when we hardly know our own mind, planet, it's hidden mysteries and resources.
Therefore in our opinion, science and people always give an explanation of phenomena based on the logic of men. This logic has to obey to "sound scientific principles", rather than recurring to other outside explanations. And for many people, everything that cannot be justified by science has no interest for society.
Is modern science limited?
In our modest view, modern science is limited since often disregards other plausible explanations for phenomena. Both " reality and truth" have many different facets and they are disregarded by science. All humans, all concepts, opinions and perceptions hold some truth in it and no one is the owner of "Truth". Besides, modern science can also be wrong about many phenomena, not being able to fully explain or grasp their grandiosity or importance. Human history already showed us, that when men cannot fully explain the unexplainable or certain phenomena, prefers to interpret them by recurring to:
- Religious concepts (many times based in pure ignorance, fear and fanaticism); - Scepticism and criticism; - Persecution and violence ex: inquisition.
Are there any other ways of explaining phenomena? In our opinion there are other ways of explaining phenomena. Life is far too complex for us to reject other possibilities, perspectives and explanations of phenomena. We also cannot simply reject science, the paranormal or other fields of human knowledge, simply because they seem overly rational, ungrounded, unheard or illogical.
Its also quite plausible, that all fields of human knowledge analyse similar phenomena, giving them different denominations or interpretations. Psychic and paranormal phenomena for instance, are known to man since the dawn of the days (they are not like many defend, a phenomena of the 21st century society, with its origins in new age movements).
Mankind always observed psychic phenomena, and they are as part of our existence as the air we breath. And if some people have the ability to tap into this amazing source, why then be regarded by the sceptics as fools, as irrational beings or individuals suffering from mental or emotional disorders? Interesting enough, many worldwide reputed universities and scholars study these phenomena, creating teams and departments exclusively dedicated to tapping into the human phenomena, the paranormal and parapsychology. And during the cold war years, both Russians and Americans created teams of scientists to explore these potentials, aiming to use them for war purposes. So, instead of making a clear separation between science/medicine and alternative healing, why not creating a common science called " integrated healing" that embraces all healing modalities? If the main purpose if to provide healing, does it matter if it comes from Reiki or from conventional medicine? Can Reiki help to explain phenomena? Reiki can very well be an interesting way to explain certain human phenomena. The same applies to other complementary therapies.
Conventional science, Reiki or other fields of alternative healing cannot fully explain phenomena by themselves. Reason why all areas of human knowledge should converge and work together to explain phenomena. Although Reiki doesn't necessarily fall into the scope of science logics (although recent studies point out that it belongs to the new "field of physics subatomic energy") it tries to view phenomena as a whole and part of existence itself. What is healing under Reiki's umbrella?
"Healing" under Reiki's umbrella involves more than scientific concepts, doctrines, dogmas, and is far more reaching or complex than human logics (involving often notions like God's existence, faith, hope, consciousness, awareness, unity with "God", oneness, multidimensionality and universality of existence).
Reiki involves as well, working with energies by understanding the subtitle and underlying energetic causes and effects of particular health problems, addressing them as "One" or as a whole. In a glance, Reiki addresses dis-ease as a form of disharmony generated in the energetic field of the body, occurring in the auric level and chakras on particular time frame (of days, weeks, month, years or life times).
Therefore, healing under the umbrella of Reiki can be perceived as an enlarged notion - broader than human concepts or science.
The goals and working of Reiki
One of Reiki main goals of Reiki is to stimulate health or full body recovery. And this goal also comes associated with ideas like: correction of inner disharmony, recovery of lost body-soul balance, pain and suffering relief, restoring of lost joy etc.
In terms of inner working, Reiki functions with a life force or universal energy called " Chi" (known to many religions and ancestral cultures). The "Chi" energy is channelled by the Reiki practitioner into the human or animal body, aura layers and chakras, revitalising in the process both body and soul. And this one of the ways the system works in helping humans to heal and to recover.
The "Chi" energy and Reiki
The "Chi" energy is viewed by many holistic and complementary therapies, as a universal or cosmic energy responsible for all existence in the universe (present all around and in us, including our thoughts, sensations, emotions, memories and actions).
And the flowing of "Chi" with Reiki, resembles for many people the flowing of electric energy, thunders or lightening through electric cables. This energy causes then a response from the body, invigorating it, making it stronger and empowered.
We can also resemble the functioning of Reiki (and the use of "Chi"), as having a radio (the human body), that can only work with electricity (life energy). But for the electricity to reach the radio, this needs to have a cable transmitter of energy and be regulated to the right frequency. And this is exactly what the Reiki practitioner does. We help other human beings to tap into this energy source, transmitting it if necessary, and helping the person to find his/her frequency with "God".
The power of intents in Reiki Healing according to Reiki, occurs when someone carries out a treatment with the highest of intents, or the "highest possible good".
Good intents are often based in healthy, noble, kind, compassionate thoughts, singly focused on the person, and with the purpose of helping others to achieve full wellness. And all Reiki practitioners try to transmit this information to people, along with an intent to help the body to "heal".
Therefore, when tapping into the "Chi" energy, the Reiki practitioner places prays of healing and meditates on the person under treated. And the conjugation of the transmission of "Chi", the power of good intents and thoughts, is what purifies the person and gives place to the actual healing.
The power of "Free-Will"
Still in what regards Reiki treatments, it's also important to respect people's free-will, leaving up to each person individually, the need to heal, to address dis-ease or not, to reconnect to their divine nature or not, to relax or not, to accept a treatment or not.
The notion of "free will" is a very important principle for Reiki, along with respect for all living beings, peoples personal choices, needs and wishes. In this sense, one cannot "force" healing to occur if that is not the wish of the person or animal under treatment.
The need for a specific disease The notion of dis-ease under Reiki's umbrella, can have a wide array of causes and effects. Disease can also be perceived as a tool "needed" by a person, in order to achieve self-development, knowledge, to get closer to family members, to get closer to friends, to achieve a particular life goal, to come closer to God, etc. Disease in our view is not a mere result of lack of health, but rather a tool to achieve certain existential goals.
Thus, disease can have a complex mix of causes and effects, often lying in one's psychology, past lives, this past and present interaction with other people, etc. And judging the nature of a health problem by recurring to simple scientific explanations, may not be enough to eradicate it. But rather by understanding it's underlying existential causes and needs, can we take the first steps to totally eradicate it! Reiki distance or remote healingReiki treatments can be conducted directly on a person by a Level II Reiki practitioner or a Reiki Master, or "sent" over long distances when the person is not physically present. It is also a common belief among Reiki practitioners, that both direct Reiki or distance healing are equally effective methods of treatment, and advanced techniques of transferring "Chi" energy. All Reiki practitioners believe as well, that life energy knows no time or space, and can be sent over long distances everywhere in the globe. In this sense, distance healing can be carried out on a person's past, present and future. Additionally, distance healing treatments can be carried through the telephone (by holding a photo of the person, name on a piece of paper), by meditating or by having a personal object belonging to a particular person. Independently of carrying out a direct Reiki treatment or distance healing, the practitioner still needs the receivers permission to conduct a treatment session. Reiki's essence is always based in mutual respect.
Distance Healing on Earth
Distance healing can also be send to our planet, in order to heal and energise it. Ancient cultures were very knowledgeable about our planet and nature, respecting and admiring its unique beauty, life and resources. They also knew and understood, that the planet could heal humans and animals, deserving much respect and veneration.
These ancient cultures felt part of Earth, finding important to preserve and care for it. For them, our planet was surrounded with this amazing and powerful energy, which lead both Mayas, Egyptians, Indians and Tibetans to built their monuments, royal palaces, monasteries, temples and cities in specific points of energetic convergence.
Therefore, all types of healing carried in our planet are very much welcomed in the 21st century. And both direct or Reiki distance healing are suited to treat and heal our planet e.g. areas devastated by natural catastrophes, wars, hunger, droughts etc. Distance healing can also be send to mother Earth on a regular basis, and always with loving messages and pure intentions.
Finally, one doesn't need to be a Reiki practitioner to apply this type of " Earth" healing. Just hold our beloved planet in your hands or in your mind, sending daily prays of recovery, love and respect to mother earth. Through this, you will reinforce as well the bond linking you to our nature, planet, the universe and to God.
