Grounding and Protection Techniques

"The deeper the roots the higher becomes the tree."
 
Not all Reiki practitioners use grounding and protection techniques. Yet, these are extremely important both for the person conducting the energetic healing, and for the person receiving it.
Applying grounding techniques is an act of responsibility, and should never be forgotten during energetic treatments.

What does "Grounding" or "Earthing" means?


The word "Grounding" or "Earthing", means to have one's feet on solid ground, to walk with certainty on earth and to be fully present physically and spiritually in this dimension.

People reporting to "float" when they walk, can be a good example of individuals facing "grounding" or "earthing" problems.
And because Reiki works on an energetic level (allowing an exchange of energy between two persons), the practitioner needs to know these techniques, master, apply them on a regular basis and before engaging in treatments. Grounding is not only important for the practitioner, but also for the person receiving Reiki.

With self-development, comes the day that the practitioner no longer needs to create "roots" to ground himself/herself.
Until then, this practise allows the practitioner to preserve his/her health, avoiding unpleasant situations e.g. attacks, negative entities, energetic intrusions, aura and chakra problems, etc.

In other cases, grounding can be very positive when people go to sleep at night, making sure that they will have a good night rest, not being swept away into other dimensions, engage in astral travelling or be energetically attacked by entities.

Grounding for life and health

Grounding is not something that should only be used temporarily (when people sense trouble) or only by "healers". These techniques can be used by everyone on a daily basis, specially when the person feels unbalanced, unwell or "floating".

Normally, people practicing Reiki or energetic treatments, tend to be highly sensitive or empathic people, feeling energy depletion or "attacks" stronger than other people. Reason why, before engaging in energetic healing, the person should learn these techniques and apply them daily (or a few times a day if necessary).

So, grounding can also be used both for people, animals, objects, homes, jobs and thoughts!

What happens when a person is not well grounded?

In case a person is not well grounded, this may originate some of the following problems:

  • Energy field, aura and chakra imbalances;
  • Eating disorders;
  • Feet, leg, knees and motion problems;
  • Poor blood circulation;
  • Fear of heights;
  • Back and kidney problems;
  • Insomnia;
  • Difficulties to fit into society;
  • Difficulties with relationships and social interaction;
  • Financial and job difficulties;
  • Sensation of floating while walking;
  • Feeling "spacey" and constantly engaged in daydreaming;
  • Falling asleep while praying or meditating;
  • Insecurity, uncertainty and low self-esteem;
  • Difficulties to put ideas into action;
  • Difficulties to concentrate, to focus and to remember things;
  • Loosing track of time easily and feeling disoriented;
  • Arriving in places without recalling how the person got there;
  • Feeling disconnected from life, family, friends and work;
  • etc.

Benefits from proper grounding

  • Increased health, inner strength, self-confidence and focus;
  • It brings additional balance and harmony to the person;
  • It allows people to develop spiritually;
  • It brings much calmness, assertiveness and sense of perspective to the person;
  • The Reiki energy flows better and faster if the person is well grounded;
  • It prevents and helps fighting psychic vampire and negative entities attacks;
  • People feel an increased sense of direction and can easier put ideas into action;
  • People tackle better eating and drinking problems;
  • People feel more energised, fit and active;
  • etc.
How can people ground themselves better and faster?

  • By being more in contact with nature;
  • By having an outdoor life;
  • Through gardening and cultivating plants;
  • By eating healthier food;
  • By drinking water and natural juices;
  • By practicing sports;
  • B dancing and singing;
  • By getting pets and more in contact with animals;
  • By doing Meditation, Yoga or any other form of body relaxation techniques;
  • By means of using crystals, gemstones, aromatherapy, herbs and Bach remedies;
  • By means of asking the help of archangels, angels, spirit guides and light beings;
  • By recurring to grounding or earthing techniques e.g. visualisation of roots and anchoring;
  • etc.

Protection

Being well protected energetically is basically being well grounded, or having a strong bond with the planet and with the universe.

And because we are all beings of energy, its important to understand that we all have both the power and capacity, to ground or unground ourselves, to balance or imbalance ourselves, to drain or replenish ourselves.

Although there are many different techniques available, to help people ground and protect their energetic field, some people still prefer to go back to their religious beliefs, cultural roots or traditional uses in order to feel connectivity with God, the planet and universe.

Either way, people should carry protection techniques on a daily basis, recurring to praying, meditation, the use of white light, mirrors, "telephone cabins", "armours", smudging, praying, etc.

All these techniques can easily be accomplished with the aid of visualisation techniques (by opening up the senses and developing the power of the mind).
