How does Reiki works?
Reiki is a system of laying on of hands, aiming to channel energy to the human or animal body and aura. Reiki also works via direct or indirect touch of hands, or via distance or remote healing. Thus, Reiki is also considered a natural flowing of energy to different parts of the body, increasing in the process it's vibratory level of positive energy (helping people to get rid of negativity, stagnated though patterns, blockages, entities and life obstacles - better known as karmas). Reiki also works in the body through energy pathways or centers called: chakras, nadis and meridians.
How can Reiki benefit me? Reiki treatments and their frequency can benefit everyone, anywhere. They are individually tailored to meet people's needs, and each person only takes or receives the amount of energy that he/she needs in that exact moment.
Often and due to stressful life situations, prolonged illnesses or inner imbalances, people feel depleted from their own vital energy. So, Reiki helps people to restore the body energy levels back to normal, providing in the process increased inner balance, sense of harmony and deep relaxation. Reiki also helps people to restore their general health.
Finally, Reiki works both on a physical, spiritual, mental and emotional level, bringing each person closer together to their divine nature, life mission and God. Some Reiki benefits Reiki has many known benefits to the human body, balancing the chakras and energy points in the body and originating some of the following states: - Deep relaxation;
- Stress reduction;
- General physical and mental well-being;
- Healing acceleration after surgeries, scars and wounds;
- Pain reduction;
- Strengthen of the immune system;
- Detoxification and general cleansing of the body ( Reiki helps to get rid of bad habits harmful to one's health and toxic substances);
- Spiritual and emotional development ( Reiki helps to overcome life obstacles, teaching people how to deal with daily life problems);
- Self-empowerment and self-confidence;
- Rejuvenating;
- Increase in inner peace, mind clarity, grounding, body energy, emotional balance, happiness,
- Thoughts and emotional objectivity;
- etc.
Depending on the person, age and gender, it's recommended a few Reiki sessions in order to balance and restore the body vital energies. Therefore, one treatment or session may not be enough for a specific person to heal or release pain. And often physical problems and disease take time to be generated in the body, and one should not expect miracles from one single Reiki session.
Thus, for optimal results Reiki or distant Reiki healing treatments should be carried in several sessions. Can anyone practice and apply Reiki? Yes. This system is very simple to learn and natural to all human beings. Everyone can channel Reiki, since it's genetically encoded in our DNA.
Yet, in order to learn how to use this healing system, one needs proper training, to receive the so-called attunements, and to learn how to work with healing symbols and different forms of energy present in the universe.
Therefore, becoming a Reiki practitioner is not the same as becoming a healer or a "light worker". No one performs "healing" or "miracles" with Reiki alone. Besides, there are always people more talented than others to perform energetic healing and treatments.
Some "light workers" being more developed and intuitive than other humans, also have the ability to perceive subtle energies better, faster and clearer. They can also be more sensitive and psychic, performing Reiki differently from other conventional practitioners. Hence, there are differences between " healers" and people practicing Reiki and that goes far beyond human learning. Some people are naturally talented for healing, whereas others wanting it badly, deliver poorly.
Therefore, some "light workers" are by nature powerful psychics with amazing mental capacities, receiving during Reiki treatments messages and symbols from other realms or from a multitude of sources e.g. angels, guardian angels, guides, deceased relatives, deities, nature spirits etc. All Reiki practitioners should be understood as being simply channels or vehicles for the cosmic energy to flow to other human beings, animals and nature.
Finally, this Chi energy flows and works regardless of the practitioner activation or experience. This energy is powerful and limitless, going where its most needed. Can a Reiki practitioner be called a "healer"? No. Reiki practitioners are simply facilitators or vehicles for the Reiki energy to flow to other living beings. Reiki practitioners are channels, never healers in the essence of the word. Although "miracles" may be reported during Reiki treatments, this is not the aim of the Reiki practitioner. And many times, this requires that the person understands that he/she is a mere tool for the energy to flow, and not a true healer. Reason why the denomination of "healer" should not be applicable or applies to any Reiki practitioner. If the person insists in using this title, is only revealing that his/her ego is playing a significant role in the person's life and work. Furthermore, Reiki practitioners never defy universal laws created by God, never taking credit for an energy that comes from the cosmos, and its part of our existence as living beings. Can Reiki be considered a religion or a medical treatment?
No. But, reiki can be used in conjugation with any religion of faith, reinforcing its power. In what regards traditional medicine, reiki does not replace it in any way or form, but can reinforce its working and end results.
Reiki is often viewed as a wonderful complement to modern medicine, causing no secondary effects to patients. Reason why, Reiki does not interfere in any way with medicinal treatments or remedies. And people under medical care should never perceive reiki as a replacement for conventional and legalised medicine. They should always be open minded about reiki and other healing systems worldwide, but never perceiving them as miraculous practices or as conventional medicine.
Finally, Reiki is not affiliated to any specific doctrine or religion. Often reiki followers accept and respect all types of religions and doctrines, feeling and accepting the fact that we all work for the same goal: to come closer to our divine nature, God and the universe.
Can Reiki help people to grow spirituality?
Yes. Reiki can undoubtedly lead people to develop spiritually, connecting them to God and the universe. Reiki also helps people to understand, that without spirituality we do not feel complete as human beings. How can this energy be channelled to human beings?
Reiki is channelled to people or animals through a receiver (or professional practitioner), balancing in the process all body chakras and aura.
In this process, there's an automatic flow of energy from the universe (cosmos) to the palms of the hands of the Reiki practitioner. This energy is then directed to the client's body, energy field (aura) and energy centers (chakras). And this highly intelligent cosmic energy, goes often where it's most needed in the body, according to the willingness and need of the person under treatment. Does Reiki hurts or is in any way harmful for human beings?
No. Reiki treatments are often characterized by feelings of deep relaxation and wellness. Additionally, reiki is perceived as a helping hand for those people needing to relieve stress levels, pain and other unpleasant body symptoms.
Many still agree, that after reiki one senses increased relaxation, balance, objectivity, inner harmony and serenity, that stays with the person for several days or weeks in a row.
Reiki's deep inner working was initiated after the first session, and one can easily notice its energy operating days, weeks or month after the treatment. This can also be seen in situations like: changing jobs, starting a diet, moving to a new home, moving to a new city or country, becoming more outspoken and daring than usual, starting a new romantic relationship, stopping altogether with addictions etc. However, in some cases reiki can also bring to the surface all sorts of pains and unpleasant body sensations. It can even intensify them, spotting easily hidden emotional turbulences.
But, this is often viewed by the reiki practitioner as a normal reaction to a treatment, and part of the healing process.
Although unpleasant for some time, these symptoms are not negative or unusual in any way. They are a simple process of "body detox" or of self-cleansing. And people feeling the strongest physical reactions, often are chemically dependent from the following substances: alcohol, drugs, sex or food.
The client's energy
Additionally, any negative/ karmic energy left behind by the client will not affect in any way the reiki practitioner, which is always well grounded and protected against energy depletion or attacks. And no harm will come from Reiki to anyone involved, only good!
Other laying on of hands systems Interesting enough, there are other energy healing systems known to man and often described as "laying on of hands". Although similar to reiki, these systems are not reiki, and the person involved often does not receive proper training to conduct energetic treatments.
These so-called spontaneous techniques of "laying on of hands", are very ancient and known to many cultures worldwide. Traditionally they were performed by "talented" people in small villages or tribes, but not substantiated by any teachings or methods.
Interesting enough, the "laying on of hands" is something inherent and natural to all human beings e.g. when a child falls and hurt his/her knee, the child tends to put instinctively the hands on top of the area injured, in order to smooth the pain. Adults do exactly the same as children e.g. when they have a headache, feel sick in the stomach or have back pain, they tend to put their hands in the area aching or hurting. Thus, reiki is a human natural system that assists people getting rid of all sorts of pain, not causing long-lasting negative side effects. Nevertheless, we cannot say the same regarding other more spontaneous or traditional forms of " laying on of hands".
Danger of spontaneous "laying on of hands"
Interesting enough, most "spontaneous healers" are unfamiliar or unaware of certain techniques to work with energies, absorbing much unwanted negativity into their bodies. And this results of not having been properly trained or initiated in matters concerning grounding, shielding, protection and self-empowerment, feeling many times physical and mentally drained, exhausted or even ill after a treatment.
Fortunately, this does not applies to the trained or professional reiki practitioner, well aware of these and other related energetic problems. Good practitioners are properly trained and fully empowered to solve any issues arising during or after a reiki session. What really happens during a Reiki treatment cleansing session?
After a Reiki treatment, it may happen that several toxins deposited in the body will be released.
And many people think, that they need to hide or hold on to emotional pain as long as possible. And some people also think, that they need to carry heavy burdens on their back and pain in order to feel alive and needed. And reiki spots easily the existence of these emotional or physical conditions, forcing them to show themselves and to be released.
But most painful reactions felt by people tend to vanish quickly, and reiki clients are always assured that this is a positive and a temporary occurrence. However, if the pain in any way subsides, it's important to inform the reiki practitioner (which is most often an indicator that the problem or injury is returning to wellness, and the person is regaining full health). And a professional and caring practitioner will always want to know, how people feel and react to a treatment.
Still in what regards physical, emotional, mental or spiritual symptoms felt after a reiki treatment, they can vary enormously from person to person. Some people only feel positive effects, while others feel a painful release, translated into the following symptoms: crying outbursts; irregular breathing; asthma attacks; nausea; cold sweats; unusual body odours; headaches; migraines; bone aches; vomiting; increased perspiration; throat pain; body shakes; sleeping disorders; appetite loss; food cravings; dryness in the mouth; thirstiness; cloudy urine; frequent urination; skin rashes; fever; running noses; mild depressions; sadness; lack of sexual desire; etc.
At an emotional level, these releases can also be felt, leading people to crying outbursts, slight depressions, sadness or melancholic states. Either way, on a spiritual, mental, emotional and physical level, the cleansing of toxins is occurring, and cannot be stopped.
And its results can soon be perceived by the person, family and friends e.g. by the formation of new and healthy thoughts, by breaking down of old negative habits, by stopping with addictions, feeling an increase in self-awareness and self-confidence, etc. Finally, the person tends to feel infused with healing energy, empowered, strong, confident and uplifted. Thus, these body releases or cleansing are natural to the body, and should be encouraged by all reiki practitioners. They are always triggered by the energy treatment, and very healthy for the person experience them. So, there's no need for rejection, fear or suppress these feelings ex: by medication intake. Additionally, the reiki practitioner also understands their origin, need and role they play in peoples lives.
Therefore, before and after a reiki treatment, it's advisable that both practitioner and client drink as much water as possible, in order to make a proper cleansing of body toxins. Water is a remover of body waste, negativity and unhealthy residual substances (and all urination that follows a reiki session is very much welcome!) Finally and according to my own experience, unpleasant physical symptoms felt by a particular client tend to disappear naturally after some time. As a result, people feel increasingly fitter, rejuvenated and energised. Can Reiki be practiced on animals, plants, objects, planet, houses and vehicles? Yes. Reiki can be practiced in almost anything around us. It can be used both to energize living beings, objects, jewels, houses, cars, rooms, offices, gardens, the planet, animals, plants, people, seeds, food and drinks etc. There's a myriad of uses for reiki, and what really matters for this healing system is one's creativity, intuition, intention and personal needs. Animals welcome very much reiki treatments, specially dogs ( they can get even slightly addicted to these treatments). Cats are often aware about energy treatments, not being so receptive to reiki, unless they really need treatment or feel ill. The reason for this relates to the fact, that cats understand the origins of reiki and are believed to possess the ability to use and apply it to humans. They are the "reiki experts" of the animal kingdom.
Other animals are also receptive to reiki. Among the most receptive are e.g. horses, cows, birds, reptiles and pigs. During their spiritual development path and earth mission, some reiki practitioners get even expert in reiki animal treatments, abandoning completely human treatments. Can Reiki be practiced while watching TV or working?
Yes. Reiki can be practiced indoors or outdoors, as long as one finds silence, peace, meditates or prays, having the opportunity and space to put it into practice.
This can be highly beneficial and can be done at home on a daily basis ex: while watching TV, at work, while driving the car, sitting in a garden, laying down on the beach etc. What are attunements? Attunements are rituals of human empowerment or of initiation, passed down from a Reiki Master/Teacher directly to a student by using Mikao Usui's teachings.
Any Reiki practitioner or student, needs to receive these attunements (in person or at a distance), in order to re-align with the higher energy and open up the chakra points. To make it simpler, to get reiki "attunements" is similar to helping someone tuning to a radio station. The clearer the transmission gets, the faster and better one can receive and apply reiki. Without attunements and initiations, a person cannot be a Reiki practitioner. And the more attunements a reiki student receives, the better he/she will develop spiritually, reaching higher frequency levels of vibrational energy, and being able to understand the intricate functioning of these energies. Finally, the more treatments a reiki practitioner carries on a life time, the better. With time, these attunements will arrive clearer and the transmition of energy will be higher. And the practitioner as the receiver of this energy will also develop his/her consciousness and awareness. What does an attunement do?
Attunements clean up the chakras and energy channels of the human body. They help awaken the mind, body and soul to the universal energy of the Chi.
Thus, attunements also help people awakening the kundalini energy residing in the base of the spine and align the Hara line. Therefore, attunements are very important for Reiki practitioners, helping them to clear both body energy lines, centers and the aura. As a result, the practitioner will channel reiki faster and more optimally, letting the Chi energy flow directly from the universe to the client. After receiving my attunement, do I still need to practice reiki?
Yes. Practice is very important and helps people to develop further.
The more work is done with reiki on others and in ourselves, the more people feel empowered, confident, clear of doubt, clear of fear and of insecurities.
So, practice leads to mastery, allowing the practitioner to help other more people and better. Finally, practice allows a person to gain new knowledge into healing, broaden the horizons and initiate the true path of self-discovery. Reiki is a path in itself. Can an attunement be bad, dangerous, unhealthy or wrong for a person ?
No. There are no bad, harmful, dangerous or wrong attunements for a particular person.
Although some people have reported feeling ill or in a crisis after receiving attunements, this is perfectly normal and part of the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual cleansing process. Some people also report feeling headaches, nausea, flu symptoms and strong emotional releases. But, from the reiki point of view this is very positive, a sign of self-development and of removal of negative mind patterns, karmic traumas or soul debris. Additionally, on earth human beings vibrate on a different level of energy, and when in contact with a higher or more refined type of energy, they need time to adjust. And this fully explains some of the physical symptoms described above. About fearing the attunements or body releases, these feelings should never be part of Reiki or be perceived as a consequence of it's practice. Fear is an inner feeling of personal and social inadequacy, based in insecurity, negative upbringing and wrong mind patterns. Fear is also a separation from God and reiki is unity, positivism, strength, beauty, harmony and love.
Can an attunement be removed, erased or disappear by itself?
No. When given to a person, attunements are for life. After having received the attunements, it's our responsibility to develop our capacities further and gather additional knowledge. And one needs to learn how to take full advantage of all reiki teachings, in order to become proficient in this practice. Additionally, attunements are not something visible to the human eye, and like tattoos possible or easy or to remove. They are individual rituals done symbolically on a chakra level, where empowered reiki symbols are deposited. After this process, the kundalini energy and power is awakened and flows freely all over the body, releasing blockages and reinforcing the person's immune system. But before accepting the attunements, one needs to read as much as possible about Reiki in order to be sure, that he/she really wants to be introduced to these teachings and life path.
Its also quite understandable, that when people read about the attunements they fear or don't understand them and their purpose. Personally they didn't change me into a worse person, but quite the opposite.
Thus my advise is, people should not go blindly to reiki courses, and perceive it as a "trendy" hobby, something fun to learn, light to do or simply to occupy our time. Reiki as a healing system should be taken more seriously, and embraced as a life change and path.
Are there any temporary attunements?
No. And there are also no free samples of attunements. When given to a person they are for life and cannot wear out, be wiped out or be offered on a temporary basis. They can get slightly "rusty" or needing reactivation, but they never wear out or vanish completely. What is Kundalini?
In the Hatha Yoga, kundalini is described as a serpent of "fire" coiled at the base of the spine, or a "reservoir of untapped potential and creative life energy".
But, this reservoir of energy can be easily taped during meditation, simply by focusing in the base of the spine. This energy is also considered by many, as the very foundation of our human and divine consciousness. And reiki also makes use of the kundalini energy like any other healing system, working with it in order to restore well-being to all those in need. Additionally, kundalini has a direct link to the base chakra, connecting people to earth's energy and helping them to realise their true life potential.
Finally, one needs to respect the kundalini energy, not engaging in "awakening courses" that hardly grasp the intricate functioning of this energy.
What is Karuna?
The word Karuna is often used by reiki practitioners, having a far broader meaning than people might think.
According to Buddhist and Hindu writings, the word "Karuna" means " the action of compassion and love". This Sanskrit word also means "being ONE" with God and with the universe.
Thus, "Karuna" is what leads people to be compassionated, specially toward those in need. And according to Buddhist teachings, Karuna and "Parjana", should always walk together e.g. compassion and wisdom.
Likewise, "Karuna" is a characteristic of enlightened people, who came to earth to help humans releasing suffering and pain by means of energetic healing. And when reiki healers evolve in their work, their capacity to generate "Karuna" becomes increasingly higher with time (this results from the fact, that healers become more receptive to God's energy and love).
Does Reiki works with intents?
Yes. Believing in one's genuine capacities and having the right type of intents, are the very essence of Reiki. Thus, the Reiki practitioner places his/her hands upon the client body or aura, always with "intent" for "healing" to occur. And meditation, visualization and prayer may aid the practitioner achieving better results during a reiki session. Hence, once attuned the practitioner starts channelling universal energy, letting it flow of it's own accord (regardless of his/her will), and through the simple act of touching.
Love, compassion, wisdom, humility, kindness, courage, abundance and empathy for other human beings, are some of the most commonly used intents by Reiki practitioners worldwide. Why it's so important for Reiki practitioners to be rigorous, truthful, integer and honest? Because, a good reiki practitioner needs to obey to several important values and ethics before engaging in energy treatments: 1st - He/she needs to be honest and truthful at all times, not lying about reiki, its effects or end results; 2nd - He/she shouldn't claim to be a medical professional, unless he/she truly is; 3rd - He/she should never give false or misleading information to a client, regarding the effectiveness of a treatment; 4th - He/she must never make claims of cures or miracles of any kind; 5th - He/she must never discourage the patient from consulting a conventional doctor. If someone is already being treated by a traditional health professional, it should continue to do so. The failure to clearly explain this to the client, can have serious consequences to less experienced reiki practitioners. 6th - He/she should never abuse authority or easily fall into so-called "ego-trip pitfalls"; 7th - He/she should respect the customer at all times, specially their privacy and intimacy. The person that doesn't respect others does not deserve respect back, or for what that matters, the titles of reiki practitioner or master; 8th - He/she needs to be humble, non-judgmental, patient, compassionate at all times, sincerely showing deep caring for all human and living beings. Who can be treated with Reiki?
Everyone, regardless of age, gender, race, nationality, religion, job, social status etc. But, before applying reiki treatments to other people, the reiki practitioner needs to treat himself/herself regularly, getting as many treatments as possible. And one needs to restore full body health before treating people in need or teaching reiki.
Thus, reiki can be easily practiced with family and friends in order to gain more experience and clarity into different health problems.
And when a reiki practitioner gathers enough knowledge and experience with energy treatments, he/she can then consider treating other people! And, having reached this point, there's a whole new reality and world emerging in front of one's eyes! Its a wonderful discovery and a divine blessing for those eager to follow this path. Note: One should never carry out treatments on other people, without asking for their permission or authorization. Reiki obeys to a code of ethics, respect for all human beings and life in general. The only exceptions to this rule, is related to people in coma or an infant (even though, the family needs to give permission to carry out a reiki treatment). Can Reiki treat children, toddlers and babies? Yes. Interesting enough, children are both very good reiki practitioners and reiki channels. They are very open and sensitive to energies, being aware of reiki's existence and understanding it's intricate functioning. Although children are very talented for reiki -- both as receivers and practitioners -- they still need to undergo normal learning, in case they wish to work with reiki. And this process involves naturally, receiving the attunements like anyone else. As reiki receivers, they often accept treatments much faster, easier and more openly than most adults. And when they have enough energy in their bodies, they also express it immediately, by showing signs of restlessness, distraction and wanting to stop the treatment at once. For more information on this issue, please read more about: children's, toddlers and baby reiki Is Reiki effective?
Yes. However, the effectiveness of a Reiki treatment lies always within the capacity of the reiki practitioner to channel energy to the client. And although reiki accelerates healing -- both physical, emotional, mental and spiritual -- the person under treatment is always the one deciding, if he/she wants to solve underlying problems or health issues. General well-being, often requires a person to take an active role in the creation of health, taking full responsibility for one's thoughts, feelings and behaviours. So, to live a profound and productive existence, one needs much willingness to change old mind patterns, negative feelings and unhealthy life habits. Thus, the reiki practitioner opens up the door of change to all clients, but its up to each person individually to welcome changes, or return to old life patterns. The decision and change never lies within the practitioner! Finally, there are many researchers worldwide currently engaged in studying Reiki positive effects in the human body (specially in the field of Therapeutic Touch).
So, reiki has been shown great results in many hospitals/clinics worldwide, and with terminal patients, suffering from e.g. cancer, tumour, aids, burnings, car accidents etc.
Can Reiki not work?
Sometimes people block themselves to Reiki, not letting the energy flow naturally through out the entire body. And this is common to perceive, in people that are sceptical, have fear, feel that reiki is somehow invading their privacy or have doubts about having alternative healing treatments.
In other cases, people with very strong religious backgrounds can also block the flowing of reiki, fearing "God's punishment" and perceiving it as a sin. How many Reiki sessions do I need? Every person is different, and their energy needs vary enormously. Some people may need only one treatment to improve general wellness, whilst others may need five or more sessions. Therefore, the number of treatments vary considerably from person to person, and should also take into account several other factors e.g. nature of the problem, length of the symptoms, goal of the person under treatment, mental and spiritual disposition, inner development etc. Personally I believe, that five-to-six treatments are a reasonable amount to restore general well-being in most people. Yet, there are cases that may need many, many more. Realistically speaking, some health problems are not possible to solve by any responsible reiki practitioner. This relates to the fact, that some people carry heavy karmas with them, needing possible to be faced and solved in this life time.
The reiki practitioner realising this situation, can only help the person to remove some of his/her karmas, but the hard work needs to be done individually by the person. Additionally, some health problems are quite serious or "heavy", preventing people from having a "normal" life. Reason why, its important for the person directly involved and his/her family, to understand that reiki does not generates miracles, but can aid people to better understand the causes and effects of particular health problems.
For more information on this issue, I would advise people to seek books or courses on karmic laws, rebirthing and past life regression. Why do I need to pay for a Reiki treatment?
Often people have difficulties to understand, the need to pay for reiki or any other alternative healing treatment. And some sceptics find difficult, to make a bridge between a supposedly spiritual field, and our material world. This is quite understandable, but there are several reasons why reiki needs to be charged. Next, I will try to explain it briefly, and in a simple manner. "So if Reiki deals with energy and energy is God given, why do I need to pay for it?" Firstly, to become a reiki practitioner ones needs to undergo many courses, trainings, invest in books and materials, attend seminars, workshops, buy the necessary equipment to perform "healing", spend time giving treatments etc. From this point of view, there are many costs involved in this practice, and people need to be aware about them.
And in order to practice reiki, one needs to be fully committed to it, focused and ethically live according to the reiki moral principles. This may also end up by interfering with having a "normal" job or career outdoors. Secondly, because the reiki practitioner has valuable knowledge or know-how about subtle energies, this person needs to dedicate much valuable time to improve and understand their intricate functioning. Therefore, time can be perceived here as a true " currency" and form of investment in self-development. Without having the necessary availability to study and evolve, a reiki practitioner difficulty grasps the potential of this healing system, energy and treatments.
Additionally, time also serves to bring people closer to techniques of self-cleansing, protection, meditation, visualisation, self-empowerment etc. And without these techniques, its not easy to have the right state of mind to help others more stressed, restless, sick or energetically unbalanced. And although many clients cannot understand this point of view, they feel directly the beneficial effects of reiki treatments on their physical, emotional, mental and spiritual body. Thirdly, we live in a material world, where money its still necessary and part of society. People still need money to eat, dress, pay a mortgage and have their basic life needs covered. And in case a person works full-time with reiki, its more than normal that he/ she needs to charge for it -- like in any other job. Fourthly, money is in a way an energy exchange between two persons. In ancient times when money was inexistent, people had to trade goods in order to make this exchange. But in modern societies, money is the only acceptable mean used by people to buy or pay for services and products. Besides, no one get's rich by practicing or giving reiki (or alternative healing in general). If there are people with this goal in mind, soon enough they will discover that reiki and healing practices in general, do not obey to money or materialistic ambitions. Fifthly, when someone has a normal job outdoors this needs to be remunerated on an hourly/daily/monthly basis. And, one should not expect that the reiki practitioner lives a life of depletion, poverty and misery, in order to give reiki. That would not be a reasonable or fair request. Therefore, when a person complaints about reiki treatments being far too expensive, or feels upset with the fact that they are charged, this person needs to consciously think why he/she feels this way? Or even better, the person needs to rethink one's relationship with money! Is it easier to pay for a haircut rather than to invest in one's spiritual growth or physical wellness? I guess that the answer to this and other similar questions, lies within each person individually. In my opinion, reiki treatments are a value in itself and should be perceived as a genuine spiritual investment.
However, there are people that cannot afford reiki. And one cannot dismiss a person, simply because he/she cannot afford a treatment. Therefore, it's up to each practitioner individually to judge these cases, deciding if the person in question get's a free reiki session, gets a discount or alternatively should pay for the treatment e.g. by doing volunteering or humanitarian work. Either way, the person should always value a reiki treatment -- paid or free of charge. Personally, when I give a free treatment to someone, I always ask the person to do something altruistic for others in return. This seems to be a fair deal. And reiki clients should not compare fees between practitioners, feel less pleased if a practitioner charges more or less for a session. As long as these treatments are reasonably priced, professionally practiced and with high quality standards, they are already worth the investment and effort. Finally, its up to each client individually to judge if he/she can afford a specific treatment, and for what purpose reiki is needed. Remember, free will is very important in every life decision we take, including reiki and alternative healing treatments! How do I become a Reiki practitioner?
In case you are interested in becoming a reiki practitioner, it's advisable that you learn the 3 or 4 degrees involved in this process: Level I, II, III, IV (Master) and level V Master of Masters. You don't necessarily need to go through all levels of reiki, but all depends from your spiritual needs and life mission! But before doing so, you will need to receive attunements from a qualified reiki Master. Today it's not easy to find good or professional Reiki Master, and people need to look very well into all courses offered. The current market for alternative healing is crowed with practitioners, masters, courses, seminars and books that instead of teaching people tend to mislead them.
So, think carefully before engaging on a reiki course with a specific teacher. Make sure that the person is really qualified (has a Master degree), and is not only after your money.
Make sure, that the person is knowledgeable and wise enough to teach you. Make also sure that the person is there always when you need back up or additional support.
Reiki levels: Reiki level I - is primarily directed to "self-healing". The student is not allowed to treat others, since there's still lack of knowledge to perform true reiki work.
Reiki level II - is directed to treating oneself and others. The student can start practicing reiki by treating family, friends and pets in order to develop his/her skills further. Reiki level III (Advanced) - is directed to people wanting to continue in this healing journey, and wanting to become true Masters and teachers. Reiki level IV (Master level) - allows the person to become a true Reiki Practitioner, treat other people (besides close friends and family), by discovering one's true divine vocation. The Master level also trains new reiki practitioners (level I, II, III), engaging people in courses, counselling and healing workshops. Reiki level V or Master of Masters - allows the person to train new masters and be a role model for many reiki practitioners. Often the Master of Masters is a very experienced, wise and enlightened person - quite rare to find! Note: Currently there are many reiki masters practising and giving energy treatments. Yet, being a reiki practitioner or a master is more than collecting a degree or a certificate.
True practitioners and masters, are those individuals who possess a wide knowledge about people, life, nature, reiki, healing, other energetic systems, human anatomy etc.
So, getting a certificate is not the same as truly being a practitioner or a Master. Getting a certificate does not make a true master or a true practitioner. Humbleness and less ego-trips are things very much needed these days, specially in what regards alternative healing in general. How much will a Reiki level cost? Normally, reiki courses are not cheap. One needs to look carefully for a good teacher, school and for a reasonable priced course. Reiki I, II are cheaper than reiki III or IV (Master degree). Reiki level V is quite unique, and prices may be generally over the top -- meaning this, not affordable for most people! So, my advise to those of you looking for a reasonable priced course is: look around, investigate and study all possibilities offered, and choose the one that most suits your personal needs and wallet. Can I get Reiki level I and II simultaneously in one day? Personally I don't think that its advisable to get both levels in one day. I have found by my own experience, that it's important to wait from 21 days till a few month (2 to 3 at least), between levels and do the attunements separately. People often know their own needs, and should always hear to their "inner voice". So it's important not to rush things, taking some time to fully understand all reiki teachings. Rushing into level II, III, IV (Master) will not make a person a better student or a practitioner. Every single person needs time to assimilate the information given by reiki. A process of deep cleansing starts on reiki level I, and a new awareness/ consciousness is then awakened on level II, III and IV. Additionally, it's also important to focus and learn well all levels of reiki, before rushing into collecting certificates and diplomas. Understand what you are learning and doing, and practice as much as possible before you go for the next diploma! More importantly, feel if reiki is really something for you and feels right. And remember, not everybody is supposed to be a Reiki Teacher, Master or a Pupil. Finally, today many so-called teachers have only in mind profiting from reiki courses. Not every teacher spends time informing people, about the levels of awareness one can get with reiki and other unexpected side effects.
Depending on your degree of sensitivity, reiki can represent both a personal challenge, a process of letting go of fear accumulated in several life times. Reiki is a divine lesson! Therefore, reiki needs to be learned and practiced with certainty, complete confidence, good intentions in one's purposes, and full a understanding of its intricate functioning. What are the pitfalls of practicing Reiki and alternative healing in general? We believe, that presently there are many pitfalls concerning reiki and alternative healing practices. One thing is a fact, people are getting increasingly more aware about the need to develop spiritually. And although there are many knowledgeable people giving self-development courses, there is also the other side of the coin -- less unprepared people profiting from spirituality. In one hand, it's positive that so many people engage themselves in "spiritual courses and reiki. Yet, not everyone should become a practitioner, a teacher, a "light worker" or is suitable to train other people. A strong "call" needs to be there and dedication as well. Besides, reiki courses and certificates are not to be "given away" in exchange for absurd amounts of money! They are meant to be given away for reasonable prices to people, or even free of charge to those who are capable and cannot afford them. Some of the best reiki masters I know, were actually poor and with limited resources. So remember, training people to use reiki serves a divine purpose by itself -- and it is to prepare people that one day will treat others in need, and help humanity and planet to develop further. Thus, reiki should always be perceived as a true blessing from God for mankind, should be respected, given and practiced with the purest of intents and love.
Our final advise is: do not hold this ancient knowledge to yourself, and share this gift of love with others.
